Spain is not only world-famous for flamenco, bullfighting, tapas, paella and siestas, but also for its wine. And for its red wines. Even though around 50 per cent of the vineyards are used for white wine production, Spain is primarily known for its red wines. Whether connoisseur or casual connoisseur, a Spanish Vino Tinto has already left a lasting impression on the palate of many. From the Iberian peninsula, our Spanish wine range (what a surprise) mainly includes red wines, but much more than the well-known Tempranillo. Our range is characterised above all by organic wines with an excellent price-performance ratio. You can buy our organic wines quickly and securely via our online shop.
Tempranillo is the most important and best-known red wine variety in Spain. Derived from the Spanish word temprano ‘early’, Tempranillo literally means ‘small early vine’. This is because the berries of the Tempranillo grape are smaller and ripen somewhat earlier than those of the Garnacha grape, for example. The grape variety also has other names such as Tinta del País or Tinta de Toro (a smaller Tempranillo variety grown in Toro). The aforementioned Tempranillo grape is the basis for Spain's most famous wines in Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but it can be found in most wine-growing regions in Spain.
The Tempranillo grape is also represented in our Spanish wine range, whether as a single variety or as a cuveé.
