In the late 1970s, Fritz and Burgi Bläuel settled in Mani to explore alternative ways of living and farming. Together with olive farmers they started to build up an organic agriculture and to produce high quality olive oil. To date, MANI Bläuel has helped over 300 farming families convert to organic farming. It is impossible to imagine the Mani without the Bläuel family. Their pioneering work in the field of organic farming has shaped olive cultivation in the Mani and throughout Greece.

The family's commitment led to the development of Greece's first certified organic olive oil in 1991, which is now exported worldwide.
