The "Messinia Union - Kalamata" is one of the best known and most traditional brands of extra virgin olive oil on the Greek market. Messinia Union is based on the Union of Historical Agricultural Co-operatives of Messinia (Messinia Union), which is known for the production of high quality olive oils. The olive oil is pressed from only one olive variety - Koroneiki - from the area of Messinia in the Peloponnese, Greece. The oil is produced according to the strict rules of organic farming. The use of fertilisers and/or pesticides is strictly prohibited.
This olive oil is ideal as a salad dressing or to flavour stews and sauces. This olive oil is also excellent with grilled and steamed vegetables
This fascinating region is located on the Greek peninsula of Peloponnese, with Kalamata as its vibrant centre. The centre of the Messinia region lies on the beautiful Messinian Gulf and stretches along the Pamisos river valley and its tributaries. This area, formerly known as Stenyklaros, is the most densely populated part of Messinia and is home to an extremely fertile landscape.
Oranges, lemons, almonds, figs and olives grow here in large quantities and of outstanding quality. The rich fertility of the soil and the Mediterranean climate create ideal conditions for growing these delicious products.
