This Greek organic extra virgin olive oil is characterised by a pleasant aroma of herbs and wild flowers and a slightly piquant spiciness. The finish is not too grassy, but pleasantly spicy. The Koroneiki olive - an autochthonous olive variety from the Peloponnese (Greece) - is harvested gently and cold-pressed exclusively by mechanical means. The olive growing area covers the entire Mani region. The Mani (Greek: Μάνη) is the so-called "middle finger" of the Peloponnese. It begins south of the city of Kalamata and ends at the tip of Cape Tenaro (the southernmost mainland point in Europe). The "outer" Mani, which is crossed by the striking Taygethos Mountains, is characterised by silvery-green olive groves that mostly extend to the rocky coast. The delicious MANI olive oil comes from this region. The climatic conditions and proximity to the sea give this olive oil a unique flavour. This uniqueness and extremely high quality was also confirmed in 2024 in the Gault&Millau olive oil test with 1st place. Here, 24 different Greek olive oils were tasted. All of Mani Bläuel's oils made it into the top 10 and the Mani Organic Olive Oil Selection took first place. Other awards include:
This olive oil is ideal as a salad dressing or for refining stews and sauces. This olive oil is also excellent with grilled and steamed vegetables
In the late 1970s, Fritz and Burgi Bläuel settled in Mani to explore alternative ways of living and farming. Together with olive growers, they began to develop organic farming and the production of high-quality olive oil. To date, MANI Bläuel has supported over 300 farming families in converting to organic farming.
The family's commitment led to the development of Greece's first certified organic olive oil in 1991, which is now exported worldwide. Felix, the family's son, has been part of the management team since 2009 and is providing new impetus for the future of the company. For example, MANI Bläuel has been awarded Naturland Fair certification, which makes the company's long-standing environmental and social commitment transparent and verifiable.
