Kalamata olive oil - A unique delicacy

Kalamata olive oil with a protected designation of origin (PDO) is a product of the unique terroir and climatic conditions that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Only olives of the Koroneiki variety from the Kalamata region are used for Kalamata olive oil and only pressed using mechanical methods. The harbour town of Kalamata and the region are known for their tasty olives and excellent olive oil.

We obtain the extra virgin Kalamata PDO olive oil directly from Konstantopoulos S.A. in Greece.
This family business was founded in the 1950s by Leonidas Konstantopoulos, a passionate olive grower, as a small retail shop for olives. Today, Konstantopoulos S.A. is one of the world's leading suppliers of table olives and olive oil, combining the family tradition with state-of-the-art technology and a relentless pursuit of quality.

Olive oil is more than just a salad dressing. In principle, it is suitable for many delicious creations. Be it for refining stews and sauces or adding that certain something to grilled and steamed vegetables.

Kalamata olive oil P.D.O.

P.D.O. stands for Protected Designation of Origin and means that the olive oil is only pressed from olives from the Kalamata region. The quality of an olive oil is influenced by many factors. The location, cultivation, climate, soil and olive variety are decisive quality factors. All these factors must harmonise in order to obtain an excellent olive oil. Kalamata olive oil is the product of a harmonious interplay of these factors such as climate (many hours of sunshine, sufficient rain), soil (rich in minerals) and olive variety (Koroneiki). But that's not all. Experienced care and careful harvesting are the recipe for success. The cold-pressed (<27°C) olive oil is made from 100% Koroneiki olives and can be used in many different ways in the kitchen (not just as a salad dressing). Olive oil is an elementary component of Mediterranean cuisine and is used for cooking, baking, frying and seasoning.
