The extra virgin Kalamata olive oil with Protected Designation of Origin is a product of the unique terroir and climatic conditions. The Koroneiki olives that are pressed for this olive oil come exclusively from the Kalamata region. The port city of Kalamata is the economic and cultural centre of the Messinia region. The city and region is known for its tasty Kalamata olives and its excellent olive oil. We obtain our extra virgin Kalamata PDO olive oil directly from Konstantopoulos S.A. in Greece.
This family business was founded in the 1950s by Leonidas Konstantopoulos, a passionate olive grower, as a small retail olive shop. Through continuous growth and innovation, the company expanded its activities and built modernised processing and packaging facilities in Katerini and Kalamata. Today, Konstantopoulos S.A. is a leading global supplier of table olives and olive oil, combining the family tradition with state-of-the-art technology and a relentless pursuit of quality.

P.D.O. stands for Protected Designation of Origin and means that the olive oil is only pressed from olives from the Kalamata region. The olive oil therefore has a protected designation of origin. The quality of an olive oil is influenced by many factors. The location, cultivation, climate, soil and olive variety are decisive quality factors. All these factors must harmonise in order to obtain an excellent olive oil. Kalamata olive oil is the product of a harmonious interplay of these factors such as climate (many hours of sunshine, sufficient rain), soil (rich in minerals) and olive variety (Koroneiki). But that's not all. Experienced care and careful harvesting are the recipe for success. The cold-pressed (<27°C) olive oil is made from 100% Koroneiki olives and can be used in many different ways in the kitchen (not just as a salad dressing). Olive oil is an elementary component of Mediterranean cuisine and is used for cooking, baking, frying and seasoning.
