The use of Sideritis plants for the preparation of tea and tinctures has a long history in Greece. Even in ancient times, several thousand years ago, these plants were valued by the ancient Greeks. Supposedly, Hippocrates, the famous Greek physician, used this plant. Greek mountain tea has always been part of tradition and is often enjoyed in the evening due to its mild flavour and aroma.
The traditional Greek way: add 2-3 heaped tablespoons of mountain tea herbs to 1 litre of water. Cover the tea and simmer in gently bubbling water for 10 minutes. Then strain The herbs can be boiled once or twice with a little less water.
The quick way: pour boiling water over 1 heaped teaspoon of herbs in a cup (200ml). Cover and leave to steep for 10 minutes.
