Flavour & aroma: Pleasant aroma of herbs and wild flowers with a light spicy flavour. Not too grassy on the finish
Greek Gold olive oil from Mani is extra virgin and is obtained exclusively by mechanical means. Greek Gold olive oil is made from 100% Koroneiki olives, an indigenous olive variety from the Peloponnese (Greece). These olives are harvested with particular care, deliberately avoiding the use of large harvesting machines and vibrating plates. Instead, the olives are mainly harvested by hand. Catch nets are spread out under the trees to gently collect the olives. Occasionally, electric vibrating rods are also used, which are deployed by the harvesters in a targeted and controlled manner to gently remove the fruit from the branches.
This single-variety olive oil is characterised by a pleasant aroma of herbs and wild flowers, rounded off with a fine, piquant spiciness. Produced from the Koroneiki olive, the special climatic conditions and proximity to the sea give this olive oil a unique flavour. Greek Gold is a conventional, non-organic certified olive oil from the Mani region. Although Mani Bläuel is known for its organic quality, the range also offers conventional olive oil. The reason for this is that some contract farmers are still in the conversion phase from conventional to organic cultivation. This conversion takes time until organic certification is obtained. Mani Bläuel supports this conversion to sustainable organic farming not only with its expertise, but also by purchasing conventional oil that is still being converted.
This olive oil is ideal as a salad dressing or for flavouring stews and sauces. This olive oil is also excellent with grilled and steamed vegetables
