Honey cannot go bad if stored properly
Salamita's eucalyptus honey from Sicily is not only delicious, but also a special companion for everyday life. As the name suggests, this honey is obtained from the nectar of eucalyptus flowers. The huge eucalyptus trees originally come from Australia. In the 19th century, eucalyptus was introduced to the Mediterranean region. Today, they characterise the landscapes of southern Italy, Spain and Portugal.
The Eucalyptus camaldulensis, also known as the red gum, can reach enormous proportions. According to information from MonumentalTrees, the largest eucalyptus tree in Sicily has a circumference of 6.80 m.
The distinctive eucalyptus honey is obtained by cold centrifuging in a liquid state from the honeycombs and bottled directly. It is therefore a pure natural product.
The taste of eucalyptus honey is slightly spicy with a subtle sweetness, comparable to fine caramel. Eucalyptus honey does NOT taste like cough drops or cold balm, as one might expect. :D
The colour is rather light with orange-brown nuances.
The consistency of the honey varies naturally from liquid to creamy-solid with the formation of crystals.
The smell of the honey is floral.
Salamita eucalyptus honey from Sicily is a natural product. Therefore, there are natural variations in consistency, colour and taste.
