Datterino Passata di pomodoro I organic quality from Tuscany

Our Datterino Passata di Pomodoro is a tomato speciality and a real treat from Tuscany. The passata is made from 100% organic Datterino tomatoes (date tomatoes). The passata is free from additives and impresses with its freshness, organic quality and the great care taken in processing.

The Datterino tomato originally comes from southern Italy, where it finds ideal growing conditions thanks to the Mediterranean climate and nutrient-rich soils. The small, date-like tomato variety is known for its intense flavour, natural sweetness and low acidity, which makes it one of the most popular varieties for tomato purée.

Tomato purée made from Datterino tomatoes

The speciality of Datterino passata is its incomparable freshness and full, fruity flavour. The Datterino or date tomato is a small, elongated tomato with a fresh, fruity-sweet taste. It is one of the sweetest tomato varieties and is therefore highly sought after. These tomatoes are grown and processed in Tuscany by Mediterranea Belfiore, a second-generation family business based in Cecina. The three sisters Simonetta, Emiliana & Antonella Ciarlo are the driving forces behind the company. Mediterranea Belfiore stands for tradition, a love of Italian products and sustainable agriculture.

The organic passata made from Datterino tomatoes is a real centrepiece of Italian cuisine. Whether as a base for pasta sauces or as a basis for stews, passata made from Datterino tomatoes is the ideal basis for many authentic Italian dishes.

Immerse yourself in the taste of Italy - with our Datterino Passata di Pomodoro Bio, an exquisite choice for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine. Ideal for gourmets who value quality and authentic enjoyment!

Passata di Pomodoro - Recipe suggestion

A classic Italian tomato sauce quickly prepared

Passata Gericht

Ingredients:
- Passata di Pomodoro
- 2 garlic cloves
- basil
- 1 small red onion
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- Chilli to taste

Preparation:

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Fry the finely chopped onions, stirring occasionally, for about 2-3 minutes until soft and slightly golden brown. Add the tomato paste and fry briefly, about 1-2 minutes, until it starts to change colour and smells aromatic.

Add chilli to taste if you want some spiciness. The amount depends on your personal taste. Half a teaspoon of dried chilli flakes is a good starting point.

Add the Passata di Pomodoro (strained tomatoes) and stir well. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for about 15-20 minutes to combine the flavours and thicken the sauce.
Add the chopped basil to the sauce and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.
