The large version of the traditional Chianti in a raffia bottle. The characteristic bulbous bottle, also known as a ‘fiasco’, gives the famous Chianti wine an unmistakable aura. The San Michele Chianti is a blend of 100% organic Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino & Merlot grapes. As soon as this Italian red wine flows into the glass, a fascinating complexity of flavours unfolds. The nuances of ripe sour cherries and delicate violets take the senses on an aromatic journey through Tuscany. The ruby red colour of the organic Chianti seduces the eye and promises a taste experience in a class of its own.
A truly elegant and appealing wine experience that reveals every facet of Italy's rich wine tradition. The bulbous bottle has become a characteristic symbol of Chianti wines from the picturesque region of Tuscany. The bulbous shape of the bottle not only lends a touch of rustic elegance, but also helps to emphasise the authenticity and tradition of Chianti wine.
The San Michele a Torri winery is the lifelong dream of the Florentine Paolo Nocentini. He bought the old fattoria and in just a few years it became a model Tuscan winery. The Fattoria San Michele a Torri has been renovated in true Tuscan style. Traditional crops are once again grown in the fields of San Michele a Torri. There is also a small bakery where traditional durum wheat bread is baked. Livestock farming has also returned: A sizeable herd of Cinta Senese pigs graze not far from the fattoria and provide the best lardo, finocchiona and prosciutto. In the attic, the grapes for the Vin Santo are dried on wooden racks in the classic Vinsantaia and then mature in the old-fashioned-looking caratelli made of chestnut wood and sealed with cement. The wine cellar is not only new, but also innovative, as the grape reception and fermentation tanks are state of the art in terms of oenological technology. The winery is located on the border between Chianti Classico and Colli Fiorentini and can therefore produce wines from both areas.
Paolo's aim is to produce a traditional Chianti as a pleasant drinking and table wine. However, we believe that this Chianti is more than just a table wine. Chianti connoisseurs will also be delighted with this wine. The traditional raffia bottle expresses the ideal and the connection with the region.
