The municipality of Barolo is located in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, and the world-famous red wine is named after it. Barolo is also known as the king of red wines, not only because of its taste but also because of the very strict cultivation and production conditions that must be adhered to by the wineries within the Barolo area. However, Barolo wine does not only come from Barolo. The wine-growing area for Barolo is made up of eleven different municipalities. However, 80% of the total Barolo production comes from just five municipalities (La Morra, Monforte D'Alba, Serralunga D'Alba, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto), which are considered the core area of Barolo.
This also applies to the PICCOLE VIGNE Erbaluna from the Azienda Agricola Erbaluna. Erbaluna is the name of the friendly and classic Piedmontese traditional winery of the Oberto family. With the Barolo vineyard Rocche dell'Annunziata, the Obertos have a particularly valuable vineyard in La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo region.
The Oberto family also owns many smaller vineyard plots, which, in terms of quantity, do not make separate vinification appear sensible. This comparatively accessible Barolo is made from the grapes of the small vineyards.
The Barolo DOCG Piccole Vigne comes from the Azienda Vitivinicola Erbaluna di Andrea Oberto.
It is located in La Morra, in the heart of the Langa hills. The family history of the Obertos is inextricably linked with the Barolo region and wine. The family has been involved in viticulture for four generations since the beginning of the last century, in an area that has always been predestined for viticulture.
Visitors immediately sense the perfect fusion of traditional winemaking and the most modern technology: old bottles stored in the most hidden and quiet rooms, the exposed brick ceilings of the cellars and the large wooden barrels characteristic of the slow ageing of Barolo stand alongside steel tanks and the most modern machinery.
In the mid-1980s, brothers Andrea and Severino Oberto decided to reorganise their winery and switch to organic farming in order to reconnect with the land, which seemed to have been lost over the past few decades.
Little by little, they bought new vineyards, converted them to organic farming and focused their sales efforts on Northern Europe, where people were already familiar with organic farming, and eventually on the whole world.
When you buy the Barolo DOCG Piccole Vigne, you are choosing:

Conventional Barolo wines of comparable quality are often sold at a significantly higher price today; the price-quality ratio here is optimal.
