The Greek word Avra (αύρα) stands for breeze of the sea. The name is fitting for this particularly soft distillate, which smells delicately of anise, juniper and spices. This ouzo from Tsantali is consistently produced organically and has a touch less sugar than usual. The ouzo from the Greek flagship organic winemaker Tsantali follows in the footsteps of the excellent wines in terms of quality and whisks you away to carefree hours on the Mediterranean.
Serving suggestion: well chilled, pure, on ice or with cold, still water as a long drink. Recommended drinking temperature: 4-6 degrees
(When mixed with water or strongly chilled, ouzo becomes milky-cloudy due to the louche effect).
Ouzo drinking customs in Greece: Ouzo is consumed not only as a digestif, but also as an accompaniment (diluted with water) to mezes, Greek and Turkish appetisers. Ouzo is also said to have healing properties. In folk medicine, it is used as a remedy for stomach cramps. In some parts of Greece, a splash of ouzo is also added to black coffee.
